The ‘Maîtrise de Metz’ is a choir school affiliated with Metz Cathedral.

There are different choirs for children, teenagers and adults who all follow a strict vocal and musical training programme in line with Christian humanist values.

The ‘Maîtrise’ sings during the services at the Cathedral and also performs regularly in concerts. They are the ones who open the Cathedral’s culture season and the ‘Printemps des Maîtrises’ festival.

The choir school, in collaboration with the Jean-XXIII school complex in Montigny-lès-Metz, is made up of children from primary to secondary school. Thanks to an adapted timetable, the pupils follow an educational programme that includes: choral singing lessons, music studies, art history, liturgical studies, choral conducting, sight-reading… The main educational objective is to train the future musicians of the church.
